Friends Forever
By colleen
Who would've thoughtWe could ever go so longWithout a simple 'hello'?The distance that lies between usIs much wider than That short path up 95.We promised to be there always. We would be old ladies together, Sitting on the porch remembering the 'good ole days.'We were always too busy makingPlans for the weekendTo ever pay attention To what the teacher was saying. We taught each other lessonsThat can't be diagramed on a chalkboardOr analyzed in detail In a textbook. We learned Which liquor store didn't check ID's,How to lie without getting caught(Even though it didn't always work),And that the hotter the guy,The bigger the attitudeAnd the bigger the heartache (usually)We learnedThat the rough spots are alwaysA little bit smoother with friendsEven the the best love can hurt,And life is hardBut much less painful as long as you have laughterAnd we learned That even the best of friends fade away.
