Our Time
By colleen
The ashes of our time togetherHave fallen to the groundAs quickly as the ever changing leavesBegan to drop With the first talk of frost. And there's no time for sentimentalityAs time moves onAnd Jack o Lanterns Must be carved To scare the trick or treaters;Just in time for the turkey to be carvedAs we gather to say thanks; And the Christmas tree must be decoratedWith bright colored lightsAnd smiling angelsWhile you light the MenorahWhich you haven't seen since you were a child. And one daySummer will awaken againAnd memories of our time will arriveJust as certainly as May becomes JuneAnd July brings fireworksAnd August brings tears As summer dies again. And our long- lost friendThe sun will accompany us each dayAs giddy smiles drap our faces. But for nowThe heat must be turned onAs flurries wander around the cold night skySearching for a placeTo call their own.
