Rainy Days
By colleen
The rain falls quietly outsideThere seems to be no break from The wet bleakness that's surrounded usThe past week.It pours down just light enoughThat it's not a complete inconvienceBut enough to keep us from forgettingThat we've seen better daysPeople walking around with umbrellas And blank expressionsA homeless man barely looks Up when a bus splashes water onHim while turning a corner. It's become a part of our routine,We expect this grey skyWhen we walk outside every morningAnd it comforts usAs we dream of beautiful days of sunshineAnd laughter that never endsWhen a heart has no reason to cry Over the weather.
