The Movie of Regret

By colleen

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Your mind is playing Constant movie clips of things you should have saidWhat you could have done differently. And the movie never stopsYou think it's ended, That the misery is over,And then you hear a song from the soundtrackAnd the movie continues. There is no way to ever really turn the movie offYou maybe able to hit pause for awhile,Continuing on with your life,But somebody always comes alongAnd presses play again. And it always seems to to come on At the same scenesRight before the handsome boy leftAnd all you could say was'See ya later.'Or the day after your true love kisses youAnd you pretended it meant nothing. That is the horrible thing aboutThe Movie of RegretIt skips all of the good partsLike when the cute boy first asked you outOr when the beautiful girl would visit youDuring a long day of workAnd brighten the day with her smile. The Movie of Regret doesn't have these partsIt is full of should of'sCould of'sAnd would of's.And it leaves a painful feeling deep inside,An emptiness that may never be filledAnd a tear stained faceThat tries to face the world with a smileAs the movie keeps playing,With no end.
