A Night of New Light

By Cope

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Tonight I saw her, Standing alone out in the darkness, Darkness so black No light at all. But as I secretly watched, I noticed a great beauty. A beauty seen from these eyes, As it seems, eternities ago. I sat and I waited, Waiting for the most opportune chance. I sat and I waited. Time seemed to go second by second. Slowly fading away. Fading into nothing. Just as it seemed as this dark night Dark desolate night, Would consume us, To nothing and all, All at once. The chance came. My time was now. As I approched her, The world lit up. Night became day, Darkness turned to happiness, But most or all, Anxiety turned to love. We stood there and talked. The nothingness of words. Then came the silence, That great silence. When the only sound that you hear, Is that of her heart. We stood there, Gazing into her beautiful green eyes. Ingulfed in her beauty. Then it happened. It was nothing that could be seen. But it was the greatest feeling The greatest feeling that I have ever had. I was now free. Free of the lost love, Free of all the worries on earth. For, the sun is rising on a whole new time of my life. A life of freedom. A life and a love. My heart is now free, Free to love, Free to love her. _________________________________________________________________ Written February 2nd, 2002 © on Feb 02 2002 07:10 AM PST    0 • 8
