The Beach of Lasting Impression
By Cope
It’s been weeks now, Weeks spent in endless despair. Wanting for her. For ‘tis her, Her for whom I long for. The long nights we spent, On the beaches, Of radiant white sand, The luminous moon reflecting, Reflecting upon the beautiful deep blue sea. As our footsteps left an imprint in the sand, Just as it was then, When she left her imprint on my heart. It is her whom I long for, For it is she, whom I have made a great connection, Like no other on earth, The imprints of our feet in the sand, Just as she left footprints on my heart. But as soon as the next wave came in, Those footprints washed to the deep blue sea. As are those left on my heart? Still deeper than ever. Now in this plain and ordinary place, I still long for her, For her smile, Her laugh, Her voice, Those deep and beautiful eyes, Filled with love and confusion, As are mine. I still long for that night on the beach, But more so just to be near her, To hold her in my arms, To set those footprints in stone. Forever engraved in my heart. Hopefully never washed away, By another hopeless wave. Written January 22nd, 2002 © on Jan 22 2002 05:25 AM PST 10 • 0 • 8
