Mocking A Mocking Bird
By Cope
Mocking a mocking bird, mocking me, I know it hears me, but what does it see. Does it think that I am an eagle, letting out a screech, Or a sand piper, calling from the beach. Mocking a mocking bird, mocking me, Endless chatter, for a moment we are free. Two different languages, yet, we understand, This night bears perfection, both feathered and tanned. Mocking a mocking bird, mocking me, Like the Sirens of past, calling out from the sea. Singing for only a minute, under the starlight, I could have spent an eternity there, or at least the whole night. We parted for the night, saying our good-byes, Leaving my newfound friend, nothing but sighs. Engraved in my mind, this night will always be, I’ll never forget mocking a mocking bird, mocking me.
