By Cope

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

The sorrow of tragedy fallen, Fallen upon our great empire, An empire recently undivided, Yet, We still divide ourselves. A remembrance is built, Standing to honor those lost, Lost miserably to hate, Hate of the American race. American Race, these words bring humor, Laughter of the knowledge of truth, Truth broken by tragedy, An American Race we were. Today, politicians debate, Debating the political correctness, Correctness of an honored statue, A statue of altered history. Yet, their alterations, Alterations designed to neglect more people, People of different race, A race still not recognized as American. So, the debate goes on. Goes on to divide, Dividing a great nation, One nation under god? Written January 27th, 2002 © on Jan 27 2002 04:38 AM PST    0 • 9
