The Leader Speaks

By Cope

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

A great leader spoke tonight, The leader of the free world. For once he spoke for just that. Words of such power and wisdom, Words of unity and strength, Words of peace and happiness. Tonight, a leader spoke, Words of hope and strength, "The state of our union, Has never been stronger." Are we seeing unification, Unification of the world? "We last met in an hour of suffering." Now we meet again in glory, What hasn't killed us, Has brought us again to power, "The American flag flies again." We have survived an attack, An attack on innocence. However, our leader has spoken, "You will not escape the justice, Of this nation." Americans fallow his word. "Our war on terrorism has just begun." As does the eternal fight, That of good and evil. The fight is not only ours, This fight is one of the world, All humans should have the right, The sacred right of safety. Some will side with our great nation, Others will fall by the weighside. "Some contries will act timid In the face of fear." America will not stand down, A great leader made this known tonight. America will continue to fight, "Fight freedom's fight."Quotes come from President George W. Bush's 2001 State of The Union Address. Written January 29th, 2002 © on Jan 29 2002 02:12 PM PST    0 • 9
