Lady Liberty
By DayDreamer
She stood tall, Unmoved, and proud, As the day wore on. She was there, As people needed, A shoulder to lean on. She watched in horror, As they crashed, That Kamikaze day. She couldn’t move A hand to help, So silently she prayed. Prayed for after one first fell, Soon it would Be done. Prayed the date Would fade away: The dreaded, Nine-One-One. Unnoticed by The naked eye, She stayed cool and collected. She was there, The day they fell, And when they were erected. It’s true she couldn’t do a thing, But in a way She did. She shone the light, To frightened souls, In the dust amid. Not forgotten, She is sought, Amongst the soul and prayer. Cemented down, Her face set stone, Yet she moves anywhere. She had to watch, And think out loud, “What if the next is me?” But none dare fight, With all their might, The Lady Liberty.I don't mean to open healed wounds with this poem... I just felt the need to write it. Thank you to the wonderful person who inspired this. I hope you like it. Written April 16th, 2002 © on Apr 16 2002 01:59 PM PST, Brandon 0 • 12
