The Heart on the Envelope
By DayDreamer
The heart on the envelope could be easily seen. It lace, and cloth, and red in between. But would she notice the trouble I went, To bring her this piece of love that I sent? Could she think that it’s a message above? Could she be honest, and think that it’s love? The heart on the envelope is my work, yes indeed. For that heart symbolizes the love that I need. The heart sent to her is only one hope. The slightest of tugging of Heart-wrenching rope. Would she know it’s me, no… of course she would not. I dropped it and hid – I ran from the spot. On the other hand, yes. She could realize the fiend, And have him arrested for such a terrible deed. But then again, I was only a kid. A kid with a crush, and that’s what I did. In school yes it was, on Valentines Day. I gave her a card, and then I ran away. On the heart, yet she missed, a distinct mark of joy… That someone had loved her.. That someone.. This boy. Yet she failed to consume the love that I handed, And dismissed the card, like a bad flu expanded. What could have I done, to keep us from part… Maybe next time I’ll put more than one heart.Story Time! Yes, there is a story behind this poem. When I was in kindergarten, all those years ago, I had a crush on this girl. So, it's Valentine's Day, and being only in Kindergarten, we were handing out Valentines, and I put a heart on the envelope to my crush... She never noticed. This is the first poem I ever remember writing, that I actually liked.... Kind of juvenile, but still, to me it has meaning. Written April 7th, 2002 © on Apr 07 2002 08:09 AM PST, Brandon 0 • 8
