Prison
By Dogbane
Prison Locked away in my prison, bound up with my chain, Adrift on a sea of anquish and pain. I struggle and strain at my hideous cage, At times screaming out in a maddening rage. Oh to be free, what joy that would bring, To fly with the wind on Paguses' wing. But, my cries are in vain, the bars are too strong, The battle is over; I've waited too long. I fall to the floor and lay in a heep, Mercifully, I'm covered by the veil of deep sleep. Then, as sleeps mystical web is unwound, At last the freedom I'd cried for is found. My dreams have come for me and they've torn down the bars, They've lifted me up and healed up the scars. With wings of eagles, we're off on our flight, Deep into the brilliant darkness of night. My dreams have come for me as they have 'oft before. I've made my escape, I am captive no more . . .This stems from trying to escape an unbearable reality through moments of escape into the world of dreams.
