The Seasons Change

The Seasons Change The winter of my life is past, those chilly days are done. And, now I feel the healing warmth of life's own springtime sun. The birds are back, all full of song, with flowers all in bloom, So with the dawning of this day, I exit from the gloom. The rains of spring now gently fall upon my cold, dry life, Cleansing all the wounds received from winter's icy knife. Upon the earth, the seasons change, as round the sun we go. But, the seasons of our lives don't have such even flow. At times we think we'll never see another springtime day, While chained within the icy vault of winters, cold and gray. But don't give up and don't lose hope, for winter just might end. And all the scrapes and cuts of life will swiftly start to mend. That's how it was for me that day the ice began to thaw, As through the frozen haze of life, it was a friend I saw. My friend stepped in with eyes of fire to melt the chains away. With her might, she broke the bars and set me free that day. So, thanks I say to you, my friend, for this thing you've done. You've carried me from winter's grip into the springtime sun. DogbaneAnother poem I had written for kvwriter/Kelly as we started out as mere friends for several years before realizing we were meant for each other as destiny calls. I wrote this about six years ago and it's weird to see the word "friend" when she is now my lifetime companion in marriage, my wife. Such is life!
