Somewhere
By donnamarie
Somewhere the heat’s gone broken. Somewhere a girl is screaming. Somewhere a noose hangs full. Somewhere there’s a cardboard mansion. Somewhere she has no shoes. Somewhere they’re lost and the engine’s died. Somewhere the belt comes off. Somewhere cries of “No!” go unheard. Somewhere the bottle is empty. Somewhere the ‘little match girl’ freezes. Somewhere his father runs away. Somewhere a war is viewed through the banister. Somewhere she lights up and takes a drink alone. Somewhere she is late. Somewhere they want to be someone else.
