Oasis
As the setting sun sinks wearily On a seemingly endless day I know that I cannot carry on Continuing to live life this way In a world so bent on destruction Filled with hate, corruption, and greed I fail to find the beauty in life And I seek out to find what I need Across the vast wastelands I travel Seeking the life of my many dreams Finding no refuge or comfort In the mirage's cool clear streams The sands of time stretch before me Behind me are the steps of my past I really know not what I am seeking But I will know when I've found it at last My mind and body grow weary And my heart struggles to carry on I know that what the future holds Is just beyond the dawn As the sun rises in the distant sky I can't believe what's in front of me My mind struggles to figure out If it's a mirage or an oasis I see It is everything that I imagined Filled with love, beauty and more No more man's inhumanity to man No starving children, poverty, or war A world where there are no colours No sickness, no corruption, or greed Where hate and anger have no home Our spirits and souls are freed Tomorrow I will wake to find it all a dream Back to the pain, the anger and the hate My hope is that some day soon This dream will be our fate Written October 9th, 2001 © on Oct 09 2001 03:25 AM PST 0 • 12
