The Mistaken 'War'
By KastleK
An assertion was softly spoken to me that I have overcome my past I disagree (peacefully) and I declare I avow in contrast To overcome means to beat It means to conquer, overwhelm It means to crush and overthrow It means to defeat I say instead let it be known that instead I accept I embrace and believe I understand and receive I welcome and I take it home I take it into my soul I make the past a part of me I don't have to crush it or defeat I don't have to win or beat I choose instead to embrace I choose to understand Knowing its contribution helped me become who I am The person I have become today A person I would like to stay I know that I will be okay I know that I will liveThis came to me as I read comments from other poems I have written. My hopeful thought for the day.... Written March 6th, 2002 © on Mar 06 2002 04:21 AM PST 0 • 12
