The Secretary
By KastleK
As I sit and stare into space At the smooth expanse of my empty desk I cannot help but wonder at the emptiness of a world of professional nothingness. Without a document to fix upon Nothing really exists. Wait until something arises To end this nothingness. A world of desks, a world of suits A world of lunches and computers. What would happen if I just stood up And walked out of that door? In this world I am as useful or useless As the computer that sits upon my desk. And still I sit and stare into space Trying to look industrious. Without this world of nothingness I cannot pay my rent. Without this world of nothingness I cannot afford to eat. Still, it doesn’t really seem to matter Who sits in my seat.Just a little thought from someone bored to tears at work. I'm not a secretary anymore, but it still reflects on the seeming irrelevance of the workers in our society. Written March 4th, 2002 © on Mar 04 2002 11:36 AM PST 0 • 9
