The Shattered Mirror
By KastleK
Defeated by the department store mirror, again Surrounded by the shroud of substance once needed Hatred, despair, spread through her mind Coursing with a life of their own Pulsating, vibrating The shame settles like a cloud around her mind Devastation once known is known again Frozen in time The shame of long ago consumes her She views herself through a shattered mirror Seeing the wretchedness of others The squalor of a time gone past Her face is marred with anguish She sees the depravity of their actions As though it is etched indelibly upon her face and form Impaired by the brutality inflicted Unable to perceive her own image She smashes the mirror Watching as shards fall to the ground Sweeping away the shattered fragments of her life Reality returns as she resumes her existence Written March 12th, 2002 © on Mar 12 2002 04:59 AM PST 0 • 21 • 1
