Sonnet for Christmas

Sonnet for ChristmasThe star that shone upon the stable thenAnd brought the wise men to the manger sideMay shine again upon this world of menAnd bring true peace some future ChristmastideMeanwhile the world resounds with cries of painAnd blood is shed upon this planet EarthWar tears the human race apart againAs we approach the hour of Jesus' birthWhen will we learn the error of our waysWhen can we right a multitude of wrongsWe cannot purge our souls with Yuletide praiseOr drown the sound of War with Christmas songsO Lord I feel our time is running outShine forth thy star and free the world from doubtHope it is not too hopeless Written October 22nd, 2001 © on Oct 22 2001 08:25 AM PST   0 • 13
