The Dancing Cat

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Once there lived a ginger cat Sleek and furry, round and fat This ginger cat, whose name was Bill Possessed a most unfeline skill To spit and claw, or scratch and bite He didn't feel was quite polite While chasing birds and catching mice He didn't think was very nice But if you gave him half a chance This ginger tom-cat loved to dance News of Bill's talent grew and grew Till all within the kingdom knew 'A dancing cat!' exclaimed the queen 'Is something I have never seen Pray, summon him without delay To dance for me this very day!' A chauffeur driven limousine Was sent to bring him to the queen Bill strode into the palace hall And silence fell on one and all First he danced a slow Strathspey Then some Classical Ballet Next he tried a touch of Tap Followed by a rapid Rap Item five in his display A Charleston from the U.S.A. In his mouth he held a rose And danced Flamenco on his toes Balanced lightly on his heels He skipped a set of Scottish Reels A Habanera and a Tango Were followed by a swift Fandango A Quickstep and a gentle Waltz Were executed without faults He finished with some Western Line The queen said, 'That was mighty fine! Such a feat of terpsichore We'll reward with fame and glory!' She had a golden medal made On which this message was displayed 'Let it be known throughout the land This cat has danced by royal command' And every Saturday, at three Bill goes to see the queen for tea Then dances till the sun has set And doubtless he is dancing yetA poem about animals (or one to be precise).Hope this cheers you up.
