Antisemitic? For Donna and Steve I find myself grieving For our friendship Three years after You left Milwaukee This grieving Is for a friendship We did not hold dear enough You gave me Your clothes Your food And your confidence We talked Of remaking the city Played baseball And worked together Until you used the A word When you said I was Antisemitic We broke the rules of friendship No names No hurts Walk away Come back In the space of a few weeks We had crushed Our friendship Of three years Then you left town Without saying goodbye I pass by your old house And think of ringing The bell And talking with your ghosts But ghosts don’t listen any better than we didHow to lose a friendship Written April 6th, 2002 © on Apr 06 2002 10:34 AM PST   0 • 1
