It held her It held her something we don’t tell mama it held her don’t tell papa it held her not no teacher neither it held her it’s just an us thing it held her our little joy it held her can’t run away it held her who’s that outside it held her some fool shouting it held her no one protected me it held her no one knew my shame it held her from childhood to adulthood it held her from victim to perpetrator it held her stopped her from crying it held her it held her daughter why she never got help it held her til it was too late oh mama it held her her daughter cried it held her til the trial ended it held her til after the verdict it held her til we visited her the last time in prison to claim her body til it was too late to know what had been done to her and now it held us all Written April 6th, 2002 © on Apr 06 2002 08:56 AM PST   0 • 9
