I am waiting I am waiting Ever so I am waiting For priorities Of our nation To include Children I am waiting For no child To be left behind I am waiting For America To truly foster children To care And spend As much for children As we spend on Missiles Helicopters And gunships I am waiting For a time When advocates Don't need to sue File endless Depostions Pleading for help I am waiting For a time Of peace When the children Of other lands Are not Seen as Other But are as Valued And precious As our own I am waiting For leaders I am waiting For questions I am waiting For justice I am waiting For peace In my lifetime I am waiting To wake up one day And hear Not of More war plans But of Irrigation dtiches In Palestine Factories in Rwanda Education in Angola Farmer co-ops In Iraq And so much more I am waiting For joy I have been Waiting And marching And singing And wanting My leaders To catch up To stop denying The truth So that the World can truly Foster its children Why should we Keep them waiting?
