Abdullah the Pirate

By Mad Jack

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Abdullah the pirate, pulled the rope tight, the ship slipping out under cover of night, thoughts in his head of veiled beauty left behind, as the ship set sail for destiny's find. Abdullah Ali with scimitar flashing, an imposing presence with scars from a lashing, but, when others cried: "C'mon we can take 'em", Abdullah simply said: "Salam alakem". Chief of the harem for Sultan Akbar, he was betrayed by his brother Anwar. Though accused of having, for the harem, desire, his betrothed was the one holding onto his fire. After the lashing, the ase ready to fall, out of the crowd "MAD JACK" was the call. In strode Mad Jack, the people all fled, his reputation again saved someone's head. Jack needed an anchorman, Abdullah agreed, and his fearsome appearance filled another need. So off they sailed into the sun, away from his sweetheart, to life on the run. Abdul stopped there and put down his beer, the pub crowd saw him wipe a tear, "Just a story I heard from a lady in red." The sweet voice in his ear said: "Come dear it's time for bed."
