On a Teary Night
By Mad Jack
The velvet night was starry,as we sat eating Calamari, when down the face of my friend so dear, slid a single sweet shimmering tear. Why did the tear roll from her lid?Could she have choked on the squid?Maybe a little transient smoke,or quiet laughter at my joke? And as the tear kissed her lip,I tried to think of another quip, but, maybe she had heard me sing,or caught sight of the engagement ring? What could have caused this glistening jewel?I thought my jokes were really cool. Then in the mirror behind my dear Sarah,on my face, some misplaced Marinara.
