Prince Mutumbo the Pirate

By Mad Jack

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Prince Mutumbo the pirate stood on the pulpit, the horizon was where his keen eyes alit. Thoughts filled his head of a lost family, as the ship started sailing for the open sea. Mutumbo, a proud man of royal blood, a prince in his land until the flood. The enemy flood came and swept him away, he swore in his heart he'd make them pay. He was sold as a slave in Timbuktu and kept in a cage, a human zoo. A forgotten latch and a sleepy guard, Mutumbo was soon out of the yard. He made it to Fez on his desert trek, where Mad Jack broke the collar off of his neck. "If you join my crew you'll find protection with me, everyone aboard the Gypsy Queen is free." All he had with him was his eagle eye, and pain in his heart, he wished he would die. Mad Jack said: "Mutumbo, my friend, I promise you now, I'll look for your family and find them somehow." Martin Prince stopped there and fell to his knees, as the pub door swung wide in a warm summer breeze, a sight he thought he'd not see in this life...... there in the door stood his daughter and wife.
