'Together'

By MalEntente

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I lay down my head and close my eyes tight, When I am weary and ready for night. It's then that I know I can finally rest, Relaxing my mind, I breathe deep in my chest. As I start to slumber and drift away far, I rush in my sleep to wherever you are. Although my body lies still in its place, I'm soon there with you, across time and space. We sing, and we dance, and we love all the night, We stay there . . . together . . . until morning's light. And during those precious hours so few, There is only us . . . just me . . . and you. I know that our love will live on forever, Through time, and distance, and every endeavor. Our love is true, made of smiles and of tears, We were destined . . . together . . . for all our years. When all that you are and have are stripped away, and you find only yourself left, aspects of your life take on new meanings. I had never thought much about dreams before. I learned. Dreams provide a freedom that can never be taken from you. A freedom to be and do and love and fly. A freedom that I will never take for granted again. Dream on. Even in our prisons, whether mental or real, NEVER stop dreaming! Written August 3rd, 1995 © on Nov 13 2001 12:18 PM PST   10 • 0 • 12
