'Phoenix From The Ashes'

By Matthew K. Brown

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

My love, my love,You were the last one I thought would betray,But I turn my back,And you show your true face. You were the one, the one,Who I wanted to mother my child,So I turn my tears to Heaven,For that baby will never know life. But I want you to know,That I'll be alright,Somehow, some way,Even though I cried for you again today.I'll deal with the pain,No matter how it hurts I'll be brave,Until I'm the Phoenix that rises,From the ashes that you've made.So how long, how long,Will it take to find comfort in my skin,I have to rebuild my heart,But I don't know where to begin. And in time, in time,I'll emerge a stronger man than before,I'll find a life to live for,But it can never be yours.I'll filter my life,Until the bad is gone,But if I let too much pass by,I'll soak myself up and carry on.And just incase you change your mind,And decide to take all the blame,Once you've burned a bridge,You can never cross it again. But I want you to know,That I'll be alright,Somehow, someway,I'll find myself again someday.I'll deal with the pain,No matter how it hurts I'll be brave,Until I'm the Phoenix that rises,From the ashes that you've made.2000, Written August 30th, 2001 © on Aug 30 2001 04:14 AM PST   0 • 12
