Finding You

The last time my pen was here, life was a mess, waking up everyday was the hardest thing to do, didn't want my life to go on, too afraid to end it, but almost willing to give it a shot. Days went by, then weeks, suddenly I found you, in the most unusual of places. I traveled for three days to a foreign country, stayed for thirty nine, was hungry, tired, dirty all the time, mind was going constantly, keeping me up at night. In the midst of that hell, I found you. life is funny sometimes, the fates can be kind, it seems that way, at least with us. I call us star-crossed lovers, two people who have no good reason to be together, from different worlds, different faiths, different everything, but (pause) we love each other, purely, deeply truly, love each other. It took us both by surprise, very rarely get two soul sick people finding one another, you never got over your father's passing, I never got over my tormented childhood, yet, in that time, in that place, we loved. I often wondered what would have happened, if we hadn't been there, right place, right time, etc., etc., etc., how would the fates have arranged for us to meet, it's strange, isn't it, my love, how life turns out. Now, I get the pleasure, of lying in your arms each night, feeling safe and contented, something I never thought possible.
