Burned out to fade away(challenge poem)
My dreams: good job, good friends, good family, a millionaire, a successful man. I traveled far and wide. Made great friends, made great money. But barely did I sleep, barely did I eat No time for myself, no time for friends No time for my family, My one focus, rising up. A sycophant I was a tyrant I became, nothing stopped my way. The top I had reached! But when you reach the top, what next? Don’t tell! Gold, diamond, and money: success? Not in my case For I became a loner, a married bachelor. Everything was fading away Things were falling apart: a divorce with my lover, losing my beloved kids my friends now my enemies, My health at risk, soon a vegetable. Oh, induced burn out or fading away, I wish nature took its coerse. Written January 2nd, 2002 © on Jan 02 2002 03:39 AM PST 0 • 10
