Her Last Moments
On that day in the evening, she lay in bed surrounded with her loved ones excepther last-born who had ran away 20 years ago.Her chest was out, barely covered. Her face looked miserable with tears rolling unstopably. She lay restless, helpless, hopeless and sad.I saw her struggle with life even when she knew She was far from winning the race.In her pain and anguish, I saw her desire to live and not ready for the nether world- too afraid of the unknown. In the dead silence of the room, certainly, there Was the knock at the door. There came in the lost son.He looked strange. But Mama’s glance at her son changedthe look of her face and the atmosphere in the room too.Certainly, in her outlook, there was that sense of awe, calmness, peace, reconciliation…Four words she said: “now I can go”. Those were her last.Reconciliation is difficult but necessary especially with those dying. Written December 7th, 2001 © on Dec 07 2001 09:18 AM PST 0 • 1
