My Beloved Kenya
There is treasure in your beauty In the mountains, in the hills In the ocean beaches In the rift valley In the lakes in the plains In the people … The people co-exist with wild animals With elephants they interact With lions the boys engage in friendly fights With crocodiles they swim together in rivers With monkeys and baboons they converse What a beauty? But you stink of corruption You stink of injustices You stink of poverty When will you restore your past glories? Is it just a nightmare? Ooh, optimists , sing with me our national anthem: “God of creation, Bless this our land and nation, Justice be our shield and defender, May we dwell in unity, Peace and liberty, Plenty be found with our borders. Let one and all arise, With hearts both strong and true. Service be our earnest endeavour, Our homeland of Kenya, Heritage and splendor, Firm may we stand to defend her. Let all with one accord, In common bond united, Build this our nation together, And the glory of Kenya, The fruit of our labour, Fill every heart with thanksgiving”.We celebrate our independence day on the 12th of december. My heart is full of joy as I celebrate this day in St. Louis MO. To all Kenyan, happy independence day! Written December 12th, 2001 © on Dec 12 2001 06:37 AM PST 0 • 9
