A Soldiers Lost Hope

Olive drab rubber.. And an insect-like mask Hide the face of a guilty conscience For through the mist The eyes of a child were not seen The howling of the wind Mimics that of a banshee.. Crying to the moon. Why is it so ravaged? A wretched wasteland.. Filled with nothing but barren hatred Scalded by the hot sun.. And torn apart by a raven.. With the hunger for a snake Filled to the core A sign is raised.. And with it, A fist. Raised towards the sun Asking for an eternal embrace With humanity To take away all the pain and suffering From this haven gone wrong Didn’t you listen? We could’ve kept this world, Intact But at your coarse hands And that vise grip you placed upon it.. The earth crumbled from between your fingers Didn’t you listen? To the rubber coated soldiers Controlled by your actions.. They didn’t mean to kill all of our children Why didn’t you open your ears.. To the hatred that boiled in your veins? A desert is our only land now Feed off of the decaying bodies Feel the disease reach into your heart You can’t cure what we never knew of.. All those antibiotics That chemical waste you threw down your throat Keep it up.. Burn a hole through your stomach.. You’re all the reason we had to leave That safe haven That place of sanctuary.. A pair of blue eyes once stared at me in despair And I took her body away from anything surreal.. For a quick moment Just to forget, The pain you’ve inflicted Drums deep under the crust Radiation fills your pupils Discoloring your skin.. Speak your name Oh.. The toxins youve fed yourself, Have eaten through your tongue I’ll throw you into that sea.. That was once pure and blue Along with all the olive drab donned soldiers Feel their pain.. You can’t control yourself.. Didn’t you listen? To the words your body was telling you Take it all inside.. For humanity What little hope we had Was crushed by mechanized nightmares Haunting our slumber.. Take whatever you had left.. Swallow it all down.. Forget me.. We can save ourselves.. Once more..hmm.. never tried anything like this before so.. please be gentle.. heh Written March 11th, 2002 © on Mar 11 2002 01:09 PM PST   18 • 0 • 10
