Don't Be Fooled
With shaky hands I wake up every morning, Drenched in sweat. I know I was up this night, for my wet footsteps left their signature for all to see, I don't try to remember, It's not worth it. I've hear the phrase, "Life's too short, make the best out of it" to much to really appreciate it, I just don't understand why something so short should be so drawn out. This isn't my day, As is no day, Each one worse then the one before. I know I'll be late, But I don't care, If I do recall life is too short, so why must I hurry, I thought I was supposed to enjoy it. I guess not. I don't know what they expect from me, I try to try my hardest, But maybe it's just not in me. I know who I want to one day be, But I just don't have the strength to become it, And anyway, Life's too short... right? Once again you look at me with those teddy bear eyes, But I won't be fooled. The intimidation doesn't work anymore, I know what I must endure, Just don't drag it out, Life is too short... Or so you say. I suppose again I must try to sleep in the bed soaked from the night before, But I'll try not worry about it. I just snuggle with the teddy bear I once thought had meaning, I'll stare at the pictures I once thought had truth, I'll even sing the song we heard in the car that one day, But it really means nothing, Because life is just too short to be thinking about the past's pain. Don't be fooled... It is quite true that life is too short, But that's why they created the past. It may be true that life can draw on and on, But that's why there exists a future. It may be true that life will never be worth living, But that's because you don't take time to live in the moment. Don't be fooled...This is about many people who have all told me the same thing but fail to realize their own faults in saying the same phrase. I couldn't think of a category because it kinda falls under a few. Written November 11th, 2001 © on Nov 11 2001 11:19 AM PST 0 • 10
