I Still Love You
Some people say they have forgotten who they were when they were little, But I have not. I still remember the way you held me and loved me, The way you cried when I was hurt, And the month you slept by my hospital bed just to make sure I could see a smiling face in the early morning. I remember the ducks by the pond that ate bread until they sank, And I remember the bird who nearly bit off my finger, But I loved them all just the same. It seems like yesterday we would laugh at the pig who just couldn't understand how to stand on 4 feet, And I remember how you told me to be strong, And I remember how you held my little arm every night before I slept, And sang me a song just because I asked, And I remember how you were always there even if you were so many miles away. I remember everything we had together, And I will always remember... The day I forget is the day I relive them with you all over again. Until then.... I still love you.Dedicated to Betty Elaine Strote (1921-1997) Written December 17th, 2001 © on Dec 16 2001 03:54 PM PST 18 • 0 • 1
