The Truth (Sequel to: 'The Boy in the Meadow')
***Please read the "The Boy in the Meadow" before reading this or you will be lost among the words... thank you ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I remember when I first met the boy in the meadow, So frightened he looked, Yet so calm, As if all the wisdom of the world lay within those young blue eyes, Shimmering in the elusive night, Sureal yet tangible, And I will not forget him... Nobody could if you only knew him, But first you must open your eyes, As did I... When I saw him again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was warm and the sun was setting along the visible horizon, Orange and pink heavenly colors reflecting of the remaining clouds after a spring shower. I returned to the meadow from my home among the stars hoping to thank him for all that he has done, And surely he was there, As he was always there whenever I needed him, But this time was different. He looked up at me with even bluer eyes, Azure as is the sky, Deep as is the ocean, And even more beautiful to forgettful eyes. I looked at him and examined a scar upon his cheek. "What... where did you get that?" I asked him concerned, But he did not answer as he sobbed, And I could see that these tears were not of wisdom or of hope, But of pain, And of sorrow. He looked down towards the ground again and I sat down next to him. "Please... please tell me." "I cannot," he said... You must understand it yourself, Because I cannot possibly explain what has been done. With that he dissapeared as quickly as the sun, And I returned home, Not to the stars or to the sky, But back down the street where I used to play as a small child. I walked in lay upon my bed, Colder than the air outside, Warmer than a summer's night. When I stand up I look in the mirror and upon my face I find what I needed to see, And there was the same scare that lie upon the small boy I have learned to love. The next morning before the morning dew had time to dissolve into the days sun I returned to the field and found the boy in the same corner as before, And he was no longer crying... he was holding a mirror. "Why... why do you have that?" I ask him. "Because, sometimes the truth needs help to be found." "I don't care to look again," I repeated back and then looking away. "Please," he said, "You must understand." ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I do understand for sure, And I will not fall again to that mistake. It seems among my happiness I have forgotten who I truley am... I had forgotten my past. Sometimes you just have to look in the mirror and face the truth, Or else it will steal you from your happy home among the stars and drag you all the way back down to the Earth from which you came, And you will see for yourself. You cannot hide from the truth. Written December 16th, 2001 © on Dec 15 2001 04:44 PM PST 18 • 0 • 12
