We Are the Same
I've never been face to face with an enemy in the middle of a deadly world war, Or fought besides millions of friends who are now among the dead, But I do know what it's like to hate, And I know what friendship is. I've never been starving or homeless under the bridge by Main, Or begged for nickels down the street by the park, But I know what it's like to need, And I know what it's like to receive. I may not live among the dead and sleep with the rats, Or breath in highly toxic fumes everytime I sigh, But I know what it's like to loose someone, And I know what it's like to cry. I wake up every morning and look through myself, into the mirror, And I see every other face but my own, Are we really that different from eachother, Are we really enemies. There comes a time when you have to pick and choose your battles, Decide what is right and who to follow, Or whether to lead yourself into the night, Hoping that maybe you will come out alive. It's not all that different all around the world, Rich or poor, White or black, Blind or insightful, Or maybe some of both. We are all the same when it comes down to it. We bleed the same blood, We breath the same air, We love with the same feelings. We are all human, And that is the only race I need. I don't pretend to love someone, And though I may dislike those who choose to be blinded by their own black radiance, I do not discriminate... We are all the same, No matter what you say, And one day we will all die, And today we will all live. ...We are the same. This has a few meanings...
