Apart
By Riverette
I take her by the hand And squeeze it very tight I know that it is time No longer can she fight The tears start to come down My pain begins to show I feel her hand getting cold Her spirit will now go As she leaves me here alone I sense an emptiness inside Without her here to talk to In who will I confide? I go home from the hospital Get dressed all in black All the time being selfish Wanting her to come back But she is in a better place now Of this I am sure Where she can be with her mom and dad A place so white and pure Now every day the pain grows more As I try to remember her face That of a great beauty Such a beauty time can never erase But I know I can get through this Even though that's not the way I feel For death is just a part of life For which everyone must deal But on some lonely nights When I know she's there I say "I love you so much, Grandma, And I'll be with you someday."
