Fingers & Toes

Ten little fingers and ten little toes Two tiny ears and a small button nose Now grows inside me, this bundle of joy The only reminder left for me from that boy He took away my innocence, made me feel so low With no more self respect, only my belly to show How can I deal with this? I'm only sixteen I was gonna go to college, I had so many dreams But now my life is ruined because of one mistake Now I must quit school for my baby's sake Other girls sleep around and never get caught But I do it once and now my lesson has been taught If I could only go back in time, I would fix it all And know that I again fit in walking down school halls And I promise, God, I'd make it better if I could do it again I would do the right thing now, but I was so stupid then I had my whole life ahead of me, now I'll soon be a mom Won't get to graduate or find a date for the prom So I ask all you girls out there to think with your heart Don't fall into peer pressure and you'll remain smart Don't think you're different from me, that it can't happen to you With only a few minutes you can be in my shoes With a baby to take care of all on your own You'll lose your friends and family and be alone So please listen to me and don't take off your clothes Then all you'll have to worry about are your own fingers and toes Written April 20th, 2001 © on Jan 05 2002 04:38 PM PST    0 • 1
