Almost
Almost able to touch, Almost able to hold, But yet so unable, And not quite so bold, I could almost feel you, Your arms around me, But is it too late, Will it never be? Will we never dance, Will we never kiss, Will I never feel, Such a sweet simple bliss, I got so close, But was so far away, A yes for an answer, But to my dismay, No slow song to dance, So I will not feel, Your arms around me, But it was almost so real, I was almost in heaven, But was pulled down to hell, Was almost in love, But to you could not tell, For now it is finished, The dance is no more, That beautiful gateway, Is now a closed door, The war of hearts over, And nobody’s won, So now back too dreaming, For that chance only one.??\\??\\98, a really old poem where I have a field day with the abab form, I still like it today despite its sounding a little too much like Dr. Suess.
