Love Mistaken Was when I thought, I embraced a inner peace of you but I was death to your noise I imitated your smile and for a while envied your poise I discovered your true colors under the covers a world of space between to undecided lovers My friends said I wouldn’t be able to see the truth I thought if I placed the cards on the table I would know what I meant to you The slap of reality one that got to core was the sight of me on my knees begging you to love me more All of my pleas were privately ignored You took the phone off the ringer silenced me with a finger I pulled back the sheets went deep as you turned down the heat My heart hardened blistered as you whispered “I never promised you a rose garden” nothing left to float that was all we wrotewritten a long time ago Written November 18th, 2001 © on Nov 18 2001 09:11 AM PST   0 • 8
