Once Bitten Now Written
By sharmeka
Swollen eyes cried shut the torment of her love she sees behind a shield of Egyptian darkness In her black solitude, she sketches images of her exploding moments when her heart was double-crossed and her face was scratched out with a sharp finger nail She held herself safe until the end of the last second until she saw the sight of blood in her hands her blood when he tore her a new womb It is a mad momentum now remaining fresh upon her lips today Her mind has become a journal of gathered thoughts Now she weighs her losses and watches as the scale tips she see the abstract memories of yesterdays grand finales As the knowledge of her heartache spills of the page she softly quote over her artistry, "The pen is mightier than the sword"written a long time ago..after a dramatic end of a terrible relationship I had when I was a teenager. This poem is one of the poems that got accepted as scholarship entry to The Great River Art Institute. They liked this poem. I got a scholarship because of it.
