Who's Responsible?

By sharmeka

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Cancer was never my concern I thought I was invincible my squares were my wives each one served a purpose. Now I'm lying here on the orthopedic bed addressing the surgeon generals warning Am I responsible? even though I was a good person I didn't blame it on peer pressure or blame it on the genetics my friends who said, "Everybody gotta die someday" I tried to quite unlike hearts, habits are hard the break even when you know you should. people tell me it happens to the best of people people tell me nothing is serious as a heart attack I say, "Nothing is as mean as cancer." Am I responsible? because I loved them all, 100 CIGARETTES AND MORE But who's counting are you?written over when I tried to quit smoking *laughing* Written November 17th, 2001 © on Nov 17 2001 04:10 AM PST   0 • 10
