em.pyre

Today... Today is a day like none that have passed before, yet like so many that have yet to come For, as if waking from a dream, a dream so clear and unfathomable, a dream immediately forgotten in a squint, I opened my eyes today as a god and have not shut them since the smoke first blasted from within My em.pyre awaits From my position amongst the gray and airless clouds I have seen many states States that lie between here and there as souls travel to and fro I moments past the child had died And in an instant, i gained a new child A child with a past life of his own Wandering in every direction but his own In the end, i pushed him away... He was heavy, a stone around my finger The destructive temptation too sweet the bond too corrosive to the heart Nothing under the microscope and then he was gone, pushed away A marble let loose The other day i found my dragon black as night and flecks of silver with a ruby offering glinting in the light of the light An omen Now i stretch Across the heavens Over the other mother the mother who cannot weep for me for she has no more tears I feel her underneath Every wrinkle, every crevice beckons me And she is alien Inhuman This other mother will soon be mine For that is my destiny She shall be my greatest conquest in my newfound glory She:  the instrument through which my em.pyre will take root The centerpiece of the great compass of life itself Written February 24th, 2002 © on Feb 24 2002 09:26 AM PST   10 • 0
