Bronzed Aussies

By The Swagman

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Bronzed Aussies Thousands of Bronzed Aussies upon a wall Never again will any one fall Looking down on this land they call home Waiting patiently for their Kingdom to come. They went away to trudge another land Or sailed the seas to some distant sand And flew like birds on a wing and a prayer Or just went along to provide some care. Men and women from all walks of life Stood up and were counted in our times of strife. In aid of their country they came to the fore Now they’re Bronzed Aussies fallen in war On War Memorial plaques all over this land Thousands of Bronzed Aussies continue their stand, So hail to you heroes wherever you lie I hope you’ll be the last of our soldiers to die. Dedicated to all Australians who fought and fell in war. The Swagman Written November 14th, 2001 © on Nov 13 2001 07:23 PM PST   0 • 10
