The Raindrop

By The Swagman

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Sun shining brightly on the ocean wide Nowhere a cloud the blue to hide, Sun shining brightly on the ocean top Giving birth to a little raindrop. Breeze gently blowing over the sea Carries the vapour as high as can be, Breeze gently blowing over the shore Clouds forming where they weren’t before Clouds are gathering over the land Vapours together are starting to band, Clouds are gathering over the hills The raindrop starts falling to fill the rills The raindrop is falling to the earth below Giving it moisture making it grow, The raindrop is falling to the mountain stream The end of its life it would seem. The stream is flowing through the slopes Carrying the water, renewing life’s hopes, The stream is flowing through the plains Into the creeks and the rivers it drains. The river flows gently towards the coast An artery of life for the raindrop to boast, The river flows gently towards the tide The sun shining brightly on the ocean wide.
