The Betrayal...

By Trish MacQueen

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Tears, squeezed between her closed eyelids, And travelled silently down her pale cheeks. While she rested wearily on a moonlit beach, As she waits, for her composure to return. The pain, sliced into her battered emotions, Like a knife, slicing lengthwise, through cheese. Filleting her inner soul, to its barest extreme, As she waits, for her composure to return. Her tormented mind, rich with sad memory, Of a time when your love was unquestioning. Now produces insecurity and doubt within, As she waits, for her composure to return. Totally exhausted, but still in great pain She, as your wife, prays for understanding, So, your betrayal can be somehow forgiven As she waits, for her composure to return. Finally, in desperation and with realization, She understands, it was her pride that you hurt. And cautiously, takes you back into her heart, Never as trustworthy, as her composure returnsDo you think you could ever forgive someone who cheated on you? Why or Why not????
