Rain
By truckerrs
Rain The clouds were darkening Then the skies opened up And everywhere it was raining As the earth tried to drain the cup The grass seemed to grow As it was kissed by the rain Trees were busy with their dumb show The culverts looked like city water mains Nature was saying thank-you For this first spring rain In the spring came life anew The rain now performing legerdemain Air smells of a freshness Seldom of equal scent Everything is alive never-the-less Earth seeming to breathe in contentment Number one story on local news Rain went across the road Took a truck for a cruise A man died while waters overflowed A rain that made flowers grow And trees blooming look so nice Took a life someone loved so Seems unfair for pretty flowers to pay that price.
