Waylon Part of country music's soul died today Not just Nashville, but all of us will pay He was a rock for us who liked real country Got started in Texas then went to Tennessee Nasheville said you'd better do it our way He said, yeah that'll be the day If there's gonna be music, it's gonna be mine So Nashville asked him if he would please sign Through the years there were 16 number one hits Done by a man who lived by his wits Oh he'd do it any way they would say Just as long as it was his way. Country music and all its fans are crying Because he's gone guitar, songs, and everything, His music will live on, hearing it will ease the pain But we worry most about who's left to entertain Who's going to fight the suits to keep our music Whose going to be strong enough not to politic Will someone stand up and fight with all their might Maybe Alan will show them the light No matter what we do, it will never be the same Thank God for keeping him off that airplane All we can say to this man is well done He did it his way, we will miss you Waylon.
