As the silk card arrived and she saw the rose,A smile slowly appeared upon her face;His secret message of love that only she knows,Within the card so delicately edged with lace...Connecting her heart to his, their love continually grows.twilah-July 2000These cards were sent to service men's wives during WWII..due to the censorship of letters. The embroidery was a secret message that only the wife/sweetheart would recognize. The card that was sent to me recently had a rose embroidered on it.
